Hello, Berlin! ❤️It’s official: 2024 has come to an end, winter is here to stay, and we’ve already seen the first snow of the season. It’s that time of the year to look back, celebrate our achievements, and start planning new goals for 2025. Imagine a world where gender roles are completely reversed: men are mere decorative pieces, at the mercy of women’s whims, while women dominate everything with sharp humor and absolute power. It’s in this provocative setting that King Kong Fran invites us to reflect on sexism, power, harassment, and the pressures imposed on women.
In this monologue, Rafaela Azevedo brings to life the clown Fran, a character who uses irony and sarcasm to subvert gender stereotypes, returning to the audience, through discomfort and laughter, the absurdities normalized by patriarchal logic. On November 27th, Meridian Brothers are back in Berlin, this time with a performance at the iconic SO36.The project is led by Colombian composer Eblis Álvarez, who dives into the influences of the golden age of Congolese rumba, Ghanaian highlife, and Nigerian afrobeat. With his latest project, Mi Latinoamérica Sufre, Álvarez explores the untapped potential of the electric guitar in a tropical Latin context.
